I've struggled with this as well as fibro for 15 years. I can't recall how many doctors I saw with complaints that I couldn't even make enough saliva to swallow only to be told I should suck on hard candy. I would put candy in my mouth and it would stick to my tongue but not dissolve and would I would try to remove it the skin would peel off my tongue with it :( I have now progressed to taking medication 4 times daily just to be able to make saliva. My joints hurt constantly and I have severe arthritis symptoms so I am hopeful that with Ms. Williams' diagnosis the medical community will start to look at this disease more seriously.

I have just changed to a new doctor and will be getting tons of tests done, including lots of blood work and MRI's. We suspect I may have Sjogren's on top of some other conditions (on top of the Fibromyalgia and everything else, lol). We are also going to try to get to the bottom of my spine issues too. I have needed more tests for years and it looks like I may finally get started on the process. I can only hope this doctor will help more than the one I had for almost 6 years. It would be nice to know what else may be wrong and why my Fibro and Psoriatic Arthritis is so severe and why I hurt so bad all the time. I'm hoping we will get the answers and maybe I can get back to having some sort of life. I'll believe it when I see it, but I still have a little hope left.
Hope you are feeling well and thanks for the seed.
(((hugs))) dear friend. I hope you had less painfilled Christmas and that the New Year is starting off well for you. The test for Sjogrens is a simple lip biopsy so I hope they do that right away. If you do find that you have this illness it may explain alot of the joint pain as well as symptoms like intestinal pain, stomach problems and headaches. Any part of the body that has a mucus membrane or that produces fluids as protective coating like your eyes is subject to problems/symptoms of the disease. Unfortunately this disease is like so many others in terms of treatments...there really aren't any :( I take pain medications and nsaids but as far as I am aware they have nothing else at this time.
Good luck on getting a great doctor and finding a treatment that works or at least eases most of your symptoms. I'm praying for you to have more pain free days.
